EIZO has released the ColorEdge CG3200X 31.5-inch 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) OLED monitor with luminance and contrast control for HDR post-production. Designed for workflows mastered in HLG, PQ or SDR, it delivers reliable results throughout post-production pipelines that rely on precision.

Modern post-production places increasing importance on precise contrast control and high dynamic range, where image integrity depends on accurately rendering both shadow detail and highlights. These demands require display equipment that enable creators to confidently evaluate fine luminance differences and tonal continuity.

The CG3200X is the first OLED model in EIZO’s ColorEdge line-up, applying the company’s decades of colour management expertise to QD-OLED technology. With a peak brightness of 1000 cd/m2, full-screen white brightness of 300 cd/m2, and a typical contrast ratio of 1,500,000:1, it accurately reproduces both bright highlights and deep shadows.

HDR OLED Monitors

HDR OLED monitors are capable of extreme peak brightness and contrast, but because each pixel emits its own light, bright scenes place higher demands on power and heat management. To protect the panel, conventional OLED displays rely on an Automatic Brightness Limiter (ABL), which reduces overall luminance as more of the screen becomes brighter. Therefore, this feature often causes visible shifts in tone and colour.

To minimise these effects, EIZO developed a new proprietary ABL control system for the CG3200X that supports higher luminance thresholds, sustaining brightness across more of the image before dimming occurs.

Even when ABL does engage, operators can optimise luminance handling with a choice of two dimming modes, allowing flexibility to suit different project requirements. Highlight Dimming reduces brightness only in the most luminous areas, preserving detail and tonal integrity in mid- and low-luminance regions. Uniform Dimming adjusts brightness evenly across the entire screen for consistent overall luminance.

To support accurate highlight evaluation, the ABL Safe View function reduces the display area to 10% or 25%, lowering the average brightness and reducing the likelihood that ABL less likely to activate. This step allows users to preview content at its intended brightness without automatic dimming. Other ABL control features include a luminance warning that clearly indicates areas that are affected by ABL, and a front bezel indicator that shows when ABL is active, giving clear visibility and precise control for confident HDR evaluation.

Since SDR content is typically created for displays with contrast ratios between 1000:1 and 2000:1, it can appear different on OLED monitors that have significantly higher contrast ratios. The CG3200X allows users to set a custom contrast ratio from 500:1 to 2000:1 in 100-step increments, ensuring a more accurate and controlled representation of SDR content and supporting consistent results across viewing environments.

High-contrast edges in text and fine details can also exhibit colour fringing on conventional OLED monitors. The CG3200X has a dedicated correction circuit to suppress these artefacts, resulting in cleaner, more natural edge reproduction.

ColourEdge Calibration

Like other professional ColorEdge monitors, the CG3200X incorporates a built-in calibration sensor, allowing calibration to be scheduled automatically without requiring an external measurement device.

The monitor works with ColorNavigator 7, EIZO's colour management software that serves as a simplified way to manage calibration and maintain consistent colour performance over time. ColorNavigator Network also supports the CG3200X for centralised monitor management. Compared to previous models, the sensor’s design has been refined for quieter operation on this new monitor.

Practical Features

Beyond colour performance, the CG3200X has been designed to fit into the practical requirements of professional production environments. It covers 99% of the DCI-P3 standard used in digital cinema and supports the BT.2020 standard that broadcasting requires, and has anti-glare, low-reflection characteristics for clearer viewing. It also covers 94% of the Adobe RGB colour space, which means that images and video shot in Adobe RGB will be displayed correctly. Colour mode presets can be changed via the switches on the front of the monitor, making colour management for different projects more straightforward.

Its Sync Signal function automatically adjusts the monitor’s colour mode according to the video signal, switching colour settings including brightness, gamma (EOTF), and colour gamut, according to the metadata of the input signal.

This feature eliminates the need for manual adjustments when working across multiple projects, ensuring that users always work with the correct settings. For more flexibility, specific colour modes can be assigned to different signal types, customising the automated switching to preset colour modes.

Connectivity features include a USB Type-C connection with 60 W of power delivery, DisplayPort and HDMI inputs, and its screen saver, pixel adjustment and internal heat management functionality helps users protect it from burn-in. A magnetic shading hood is included

This monitor is supplied with a 5-year manufacturer's warranty. Pre-orders for the CG3200X will open in October 2026. www.eizoglobal.com
