ARGUS 2.3 now plays back monitored streams in real time, enabling direct inspection for fault validation, simplifies user authentication and optimises monitoring performance.

Telestream ArgusScreen liveLook

Telestream’s ARGUS v2.3 update introduces Live Look, a new feature that operators can use to visually and audibly inspect live and on-demand streams directly within the ARGUS monitoring environment.

Designed for rapid validation of service health and quality, Live Look inputs real-time video playback and audio confirmation into the ARGUS dashboard, allowing operators to see and hear exactly what viewers experience and take decisive action to resolve the issue without switching between tools or interfaces

Video/Audio Playback in the Dashboard

ARGUS is one of the Telestream iQ products, a centralized video monitoring system for video distribution networks that presents a consolidated end-to-end view of media health diagnostics. Operators use ARGUS’ dashboards for a high-level view, and receive data for drill-down analytics. The software has a distributed, microservices system architecture, optimised for virtual and cloud deployments, and with cloud-native Kubernetes support, it suits deployment in AWS, GCP and Azure public clouds, which also means users can scale up the number of monitoring points without up-front cost.

ARGUS applies a monitoring by exception strategy that shifts resources to focus less on manual status observation to intelligent, event-driven oversight. Rather than constantly observing every feed, operators are alerted only when a deviation from expected behaviour occurs.

Now with ARGUS Live Look, media operations teams can isolate issues and recover more quickly. Ken Haren, Director of Product Management at Telestream said, "ARGUS helps operations teams focus on what matters by surfacing precise, timely, actionable insights. With the launch of ARGUS v2.3 and the new Live Look capability, teams can now view any monitored stream in real-time directly in the ARGUS dashboard, enhancing diagnostic confidence and speeding up escalation decisions."

Sound and Vision for Automated Monitoring

Until now, most monitoring systems required operators to shift between dashboards and third-party tools for signal validation. Live Look simplifies the ARGUS workflow into a single process. Users can immediately verify impairment alarms, assess their actual impact, escalate with more confidence and reduce mean time to repair (MTTR), working more efficiently.

Live Look directly addresses the ongoing need for visual confirmation at scale, especially valuable for organizations managing hundreds of linear or OTT channels across distributed operations. From verifying audio presence to confirming editorial intent when silence or anomalies are detected, Live Look gives immediate eyes-on-glass insight without leaving the ARGUS environment.

Combined with Telestream's monitoring by exception approach, operators can stay focused on addressing true deviations rather than watching every feed, which may lead to cognitive overload and fatigue.

Management, Security, Monitoring Performance

Beyond Live Look, ARGUS v2.3 has several management, security and monitoring performance updates as well. User Management now supports single-sign on (SSO) for simpler authentication and, with integrated support for third-party SSO/MFA (multifactor authentication), consistent access policies can be applied across deployments.

To speed up configuration updates and alarm template management in complex or multi-site operations, users can set up automated processes via API and UI.

Audio packet identifier (PID) monitoring has been improved through logical grouping by codec, language or role (primary/secondary) to enable fine-grained control over alert generation for individual audio PIDs.

Together, these features reinforce ARGUS’ role in allowing operators in multi-point, multi-format environments to focus on actionable insight rather than manual data correlation.  Telestream ARGUS v2.3 with Live Look is available immediately.    www.telestream.net/
