Jampot Productions video-based podcast company builds workflows around Sony cameras, chosen for consistent colour, dynamic range and autofocus for fast turn-around productions.

Jampot Productions, a video-based podcast company founded in 2021, has grown into a roughly twenty-person production company handling talent, studio design, social media and advertising for a fast-growing slate of shows. Their team is responsible for pop-style titles like HAYU, NewlyWeds and Great Company, and has built a multi-camera production pipeline that allows them to shoot fast-turnaround podcasts that maintain a cinematic, modern look.

Their workflows are built around Sony video cameras, chosen for the consistency, dynamic range and autofocus Jampot needs for their productions. Jake Ji, Head of Video at Jampot, believes podcasts are becoming the new broadcast. “People still listen via their favourite podcast apps, but more and more want to watch as well," he said.

Consistency in Multi-Camera Workflows

Jampot's shoots often run five or more cameras simultaneously, making cross-camera colour matching essential. Sony's colour science and S-Log3 recording, shared across all of the cameras, keep footage aligned between the different camera setups, leaving room to adjust without losing consistency. When shooting on location, cameras must be ready to follow talent into unpredictable, poorly lit spaces like home interiors and wardrobes.

Jampot uses the Sony FX6, a full-frame cinema camera with a dual native ISO sensor and face/eye-tracking autofocus, and the compact Sony FX2, whose 33MP sensor allows it to work as a stills camera for on-location and promo work. Both are fitted with Sony G Master lenses, including the 24–70mm f/2.8 and 16–35mm f/2.8.

Lizzie McCarthy, Video Editor and Colourist at Jampot Productions, commented, "Sony's Cinema Line cameras produce a lovely cinematic look and make skin tones flattering."

With five or six series in production at once and two to seven episodes published a week, footage is shot in 4K, 10-bit 4:2:2 S-Log3 – up to 700GB per episode – giving the studio flexibility to repurpose material from full 4K masters down to short-form social clips. Turnarounds are fast. For instance, an interview recorded Monday can be edited, clipped and published by Wednesday. By automating backup and ingest, they can reduce manual handling as well.

A Distinct Look for Every Show

Each Jampot podcast has a customised studio design rather than a shared set. Lighting, lens choice, camera movement and set design tailored to match each show's style, which the company regards as a critical factor to stand out in a crowded market.

Christie Patel, B2B Marketing Lead at Sony Digital Imaging Solutions, commented, "Jampot Productions shows how our Cinema Line cameras, and shared colour science, give creators the opportunity build a distinctive visual identity while working at real production speed. We're pleased to be able to support their growth as video-first podcasting continues to raise audience expectations."

Jampot plans to keep growing as trends and demand dictate, expanding its Sony camera fleet and software as it scales.

Ji commented, "With Sony, it is possible to capture cinematic quality at an affordable price. For our purposes, Sony's dynamic range and autofocus are the best. Whatever we do, it consistently looks great. We want to be stronger visually, more cinematic — and I'd like to explore more with Sony to streamline our productions even further."

Jampot is now evaluating cloud workflows such as Sony Ci Media Cloud to further simplify its operations. Ci unifies media management through the complete media lifecycle, working as the central media repository for everyday workflows handling large media files. Ci allows the media cycle to continue uninterrupted, avoiding redundancy.

Ci simplifies file gathering, from anyone working anywhere, directly into a Workspace using fast Ci file transfers for unlimited file sizes to accelerate content acquisition. Ci also automatically creates proxies viewable in a browser so the team can review footage as soon as it is uploaded. pro.sony
