Imagine developed a new Monitoring Solution that gives comprehensive visibility and analysis to broadcasters and service providers across their complete video chain from ingest to playout
The new Imagine Monitoring Solution (IMS) gives comprehensive visibility to broadcasters, content originators and MSOs across their complete video chain from ingest to playout. Imagine Communications has developed IMS as a SaaS based application specifically for the demands of monitoring video networks, aiming to help users detect issues early, resolve them quickly, and avoid costly outages.
While the demands on video networks are rising, if the tools teams rely on for monitoring are designed for general-purpose IT infrastructure or closed ecosystems, they may not be equipped to focus on the complex nature and characteristics of video networks. Those teams that have transitioned to IP networks, or are operating content delivery networks, are especially affected.
IMS has video-aware monitoring features that analyze all operational aspects of a video network from a single user interface. Its functionality includes intelligent, in-depth network analysis to identify processing trends and predict potential issues before they occur.
“The video network-specific nature of IMS separates it from the generic IT monitoring tools available on the market today,” said Dan Walsh, senior vice president, product management, at Imagine Communications. “Our new services give our customers access to the latest in video network monitoring, with end-to-end observability of all devices running in the network — regardless of device manufacturer.”
IMS gives users a live, detailed view, down to the individual components of the video signal path, isolating issues that could adversely affect video content delivery and supporting real-time troubleshooting.
To help users get started quickly, curated, prebuilt device profiles are available. Teams can also create fully customized dashboards, tailored to integrate into their workflows. The combination of profiles and customization aims to result in precise, user-defined alerting with flexible severity levels, escalation paths and notification schedules. Setting these parameters reduces noise and distraction, and helps teams focus on the most relevant issues.
IMS is made for cloud, on-premises and hybrid video processing and delivery environments. With an emphasis on interoperability, IMS supports open APIs and standard protocols, and plugs into existing systems. Companies can continue to work with existing IT monitoring tools while migrating to and enabling full network visibility with IMS.
“With IMS, Imagine users have a simpler way to move from reactive troubleshooting to proactive performance management,” Dan Walsh said. “Advantages range from operational savings, reduced training and maintenance overhead, to a deployment model with simple, competitive pricing options, including usage-based subscriptions.” imaginecommunications.com
