VSI uses the Blue Lucy BLAM Content Factory to automate and simplify localisation workflows, handling secure, reliable, auditable content management throughout the production lifecycle.

Operating since 1989, VSI adapts content for audiences worldwide. Localisation projects are often time-sensitive, requiring simultaneous delivery across multiple regions to avoid spoilers and maintain a consistent viewing experience. VSI uses the Blue Lucy BLAM Content Factory to automate and simplify these workflows, and to carry out secure, reliable, auditable content management throughout the production lifecycle.
A workflow orchestration and media management platform, BLAM Content Factory gains access at various points across media and business systems, giving visibility and control of an entire media operation. It also serves as an integration layer, connecting traditional broadcast and production systems to cloud services, and is configured using a no-code, low-code tools.
VSI has renewed its multi-year agreement with Blue Lucy to further extend the platform within its global studio network, which covers 22 territories and supports dubbing, subtitling and localisation services in multiple languages.
Combining media management, workflow orchestration and operator task flows in a single integrated solution, the BLAM Content Factory workflow engine is highly scalable and runs natively in cloud or on-premises compute environments. Users can build very specific workflows from a portfolio of more 500 functional microservices covering media management, data processing, system control and manual task operations.
Orchestrating and Customising Operational Workflows
BLAM can also orchestrate the operation of internal and external processes, 3rd party software and services asynchronously, and allows real time visibility of all processes. The platform includes fast search and media aggregation tools designed for operations from data wrangling to executive review. It also incorporates production-assist kinds of applications, and integrates with production tools for capture, editing, quality control and format conversion. It is most often used as a hybrid cloud/on-premises deployment for cost efficiency.

Since its initial deployment at VSI in 2022, the BLAM Content Factory platform has been expanded to increase regional coverage and has been integrated with several third party applications and services including file transfer tools, storage mediums, content reformatting, subtitling and dubbing technologies. These integrations and business logic are orchestrated via custom operational workflows, maintaining efficiency and quality for VSI and its customers.
The deployment automates content management using logic tailored to VSI’s business requirements, allowing project managers to quickly locate materials, prepare them for vendors, and deliver back to clients efficiently and securely. Automated processes track all steps, including watermarking and secure transfers, reducing error and maintaining accountability for sensitive content.
Pete Lewis, Group Studio and Systems Director at VSI said, “VSI works on top tier content on behalf of the world's largest broadcast and streaming providers. With the support of the Blue Lucy BLAM Content Factory, VSI is able to securely manage and track assets throughout the entire production lifecycle, processing and delivering millions of sensitive media files where they are needed, efficiently, quickly and at scale. We look forward to further innovation and collaboration with Blue Lucy to help develop deeper AI functionality, which will realise greater efficiencies for our clients.”
“Speed, reactivity and security are crucial in localisation,” said Blue Lucy’s Chief Strategy Officer Jonathan Lunness. “At VSI, the BLAM Content Factory ensures content is prepared, tracked and delivered securely at scale. In fact, this is one of our busiest deployments. We look forward to working with them as the business evolves to adopt emerging technologies including a deeper application of AI in the coming months and years.”
