The new AW-UR100 Outdoor PTZ camera and AV-HSW10 compact switcher are released to help production teams capture and produce content in a wider range of environments.

Panasonic PTZ outdoor

Panasonic has launched the new AW-UR100 Outdoor PTZ camera and AV-HSW10 compact switcher, and will soon update its Premium Series PTZ camera lineup with a built-in auto-tracking feature suitable for corporate and education settings. These developments are intended to help production teams capture and produce content in a wider range of environments.

AW-UR100 Outdoor PTZ Camera

Sports production teams and broadcast crews operating in outdoor environments may need to create dynamic productions that capture a game from different angles, or give news audiences a comprehensive view on traffic or weather conditions.

Panasonic aw ur100

The AW-UR100 builds on the earlier AW-HR140, which the new camera will replace in Panasonic’s PTZ lineup later this year. the AW-UR100 has a salt resistant coating and an IP65 rating that assures a level of protection against water and dust suitable for outdoor use, along with a wiper, heater and defroster. Built into a compact size, it can be mounted upright or upside down to work in variable installations, and features vibration protection, stabilisation and wind pressure resistance able to compensate for extreme weather, without compromising the quality of captured content.

An integrated 4K/60P camera, the AW-UR100 has a 4K sensor and optical zoom of 24x, in order to preserve high resolution even when using iZoom to zoom closer into a scene. iZoom crops the sensor and then processes the images in-camera, applying intelligent resolution functions to minimise image degradation. The camera also has a 74.1 degree field of view, which especially useful in sports settings, to help capture the full length of a playing field, for example.

To support flexibility within workflows, compatible IP protocols include SRT, NDI, NDI|HX2 for secure 4K streaming over a public network. Fibre connectivity and new workflows, such as AR/VR/XR productions with FreeD built-in, are included.

As well as this new camera, the Premium Series of PTZ cameras, which includes the AW-UE40, AW-UE50 and AW-UE80, now features built-in auto-tracking. Because it relies on body detection, without involving extra equipment or staff, this feature can be used to make lectures and meetings easier to run and content more engaging.

AV-HSW10 Compact Switcher with Direct Streaming

Panasonic switcher AV HSW10

The AV-HSW10 Compact Switcher is built for smaller university production departments, houses of worship and other venues that lack space for large scale production equipment. They may also need a switcher that is easy to learn and operate for volunteer production teams. Similarly, rental and staging professionals and production crews in smaller corporate venues generally use portable equipment when producing livestreams for events and webinars. IP workflows and the need to stream directly from the switcher are growing more common as well. For any of these applications, the AV-HSW10 bridges the gap between a baseband and IP workflow, and includes 10bit processing.

The AV-HSW10 is a notebook-sized device with SDI/HDMI/NDI/SRT/UVC/RTMP input/output supporting straightforward connection with an IP-compatible PTZ camera. It supports RTMP for direct upload to streaming services, and USB Video Class for compatibility with web conferencing services. Although compact, the switcher maintains high performance and broadcast image quality.

With direct streaming output and audio support, it can take a one-person operation from production to distribution. Should a full production team be available, it is compatible with the Panasonic Software Control Panel for viewing video and images and, in a future update, direct switching from a PC. This will mean that multiple people can work together efficiently and simultaneously.

Compatible with all of Panasonic Connect’s current PTZ cameras, the AV-HSW10 was designed to support live events such as worship services, high-flex university courses, smaller corporate events, and webinars that don’t require many inputs, but need to switch live between different cameras and stream directly from the switcher.

Ultimately, a combination like the AW-UR100 PTZ Camera and AV-HSW10 Compact Switcher will allow production crews to continue investing in up-to-date gear, while keeping the ability to maintain their current workflows and adapt new ones gradually.

These new updates and products will be on display at NAB 2023 and will become available throughout the second half of 2023.   business.panasonic.com.au
