TAG’s Media Control System now incorporates support directly into Dataminer’s media management platform, improving visibility, automation and control for users of both platforms.

TAG MCS

TAG Video Systems has increased its level of integration with Skyline CommunicationsDataminer. The upgrade incorporates support for TAG’s Media Control System [MCS] directly into Dataminer’s media management platform, in order to improve visibility, automation and control for users of both platforms.

The closer integration is a significant development in the long-term partnership between TAG and Skyline Communications. TAG specialises in software-based IP end-to-end monitoring, deep probing and real-time visualisation tools. Skyline Communications develops open monitoring and orchestration software for ICT media and broadband platforms.

ICT media and broadband operators use DataMiner to access all of their resources and create a standardised, real-time digital twin of their entire operation. Its modular function stack gives DevOps teams functioanality ranging from AI-powered proactive monitoring, asset and inventory management, to process and workflow automation, to capacity- and capability-aware orchestration of complex services.

Media companies and content owners can use TAG’s MCS, a monitoring control and data aggregation engine to track signals, gain visibility into their data and, using an open-source approach, adjust operations for optimal growth and resource management. Incorporating support for TAG’s MCS into Skyline’s DataMiner platform makes media health insights and management capabilities available on Dataminer’s Dashboards and Apps, visualising alarms from both systems on the TAG advanced multiviewer display.

This integration aims to add a robust element of automation, control and orchestration to the MCS’s capabilities. Having a complete view of data and notifications aggregated by both Dataminer and TAG’s MCS in one place also helps simplify operator workflows – simultaneous insight into the status of their infrastructure from Dataminer, plus insight to the health of their content and live streams from TAG.

This further level of control over and visibility into production and distribution workflows gives users data needed to keep systems running smoothly as businesses and services evolve.

“Skyline has many years of experience integrating the MCM-9000 platform. Now, users have the choice to interface directly with TAG’s new MCS as a single point of integration,” said Thomas Gunkel, Market Director Broadcast at Skyline Communications. “This change simplifies deployment and configuration and comes with new capabilities to manage large-scale TAG installations. Combined with DataMiner Dashboards and apps, a user interface can be built that is tailored to specific requirements and efficiently supports user workflows.”

Michael Demb, VP Product Strategy at TAG, said, “Integrating Dataminer elevates MCS’ data visibility capabilities to a new level, creating an inclusive assessment of operations in real-time that can keep users ahead of technological development, and help them to position their businesses for growth.” www.tagvs.com
