Riedel has acquired the customisable, scalable, vendor-agnostic hi human interface to use as a control system across its growing portfolio of broadcast, event and production systems.
Connection management
Riedel Communications now has a vendor-agnostic control system to use across its growing portfolio of broadcast, event and production systems, following the acquisition of hi human interface from Broadcast Solutions.
Broadcast Solutions developed their customisable hi human interface in 2018 as a browser-based, platform-independent control layer for operators who need to manage a number of different devices such as baseband routers, multiviewers, video and audio mixers and third-party SDN controllers. With automatic device discovery, minimalconfiguration to set up and distributed architecture, hi human can be scaled from a single laptop to enterprise-wide or cloud-hosted systems.
Integration
Broadcast Solutions CEO Stefan Breder said, “We believe that Riedel has the global reach and resources to realise its enormous potential of our hi human interface as a product. Together, we’re opening a new chapter in our alliance, laying the foundation for large scale projects in the future.”
“By welcoming the entire hi team and their innovative technology, the Riedel family gains not only an excellent product but also a wealth of expertise,” said Thomas Riedel, Founder and CEO of the Riedel Group. “hi has become a benchmark for straightforward, simple-to-use control in the industry and a way to upgrade how broadcasters and production teams interact with their workflows. This proven control solution complements our portfolio and will give our customers freedom to shape and operate their workflows exactly as they envision.”
Ease of use
Over time, Riedel and hi have demonstrated the effeciveness of their integration as hi worked in cooperation with Riedel’s MediorNet media infrastructures and SmartPanels for direct routing, device control and workflow management in such deployments as WDR’s (Westdeutscher Rundfunk) remote production of the UEFA Euro 2024. hi is also fully integrated for Riedel StageLink audio routing and tally control with SimplyLive video production solutions. Further integrations are currently in development across the Riedel portfolio.
While the hi human software can be operated either via touchscreen or Riedel SmartPanels, it works with a dedicated range of hardware controllers such as the hiPush panels and the hiDot touchscreen rotary knob. hiPush control panels are flexible and tactile, and made to integrate directly with the hi interface’s set of features. They range from the 1RU hiPush18 with 18 high-contrast LCD buttons to the 2RU hiPush54 and the compact hiPush32 Desktop, running on PoE.

“Riedel has believed in and championed hi since its inception – they were with us from our very first customer project. Since then, we have supported each other both in development and in sales, making it feel natural to continue shaping our future together,” said Tamás Szanto, Product Owner hi, Riedel Communications.
“hi will remain an open, manufacturer-independent platform, ensuring customers continue to enjoy the freedom and flexibility they value. What’s changing is the backing of Riedel’s global organisation, which means accelerated development, wider availability, and a new level of support for customers worldwide.” www.riedel.net
