EditShare Lightworks v14.0 Adds Social Media Formats and FX Tools
EditShare’s Lightworks NLE version 14.0 has new tools for YouTube filmmakers and social media marketing, and independent and corporate video makers. It also has a new fixed layout user interface that includes VFX functions, plus integrated royalty-free audio and video content from partners Audio Network and Pond5.
EditShare notes that as video becomes the one most popular form of communication across the internet, more people are becoming content creators and need a straightforward editing system. Lightworks 14.0 has audio and video FX tools for fine tuning and polishing video content, so that users can import, edit, add VFX and voice overs, and deliver video in virtually any format, particularly for social video platforms like YouTube and Vimeo. Support for GoPro camera formats makes it easier to create eye-catching sports content and slow motion drone footage that can be mixed with video captured on a range of cameras, including mobile devices.
For video makers who need professional codec support and the ability to edit and export media up to 4K, Lightworks’ functionality includes a new proxy workflow to help editing in higher resolutions. For learning purposes, EditShare has a free version of the NLE that includes all the tools and only limits the final output format – maximum resolution for Vimeo and YouTube is 720p.
Lightworks native format support includes MXF, Quicktime and AVI containers, with almost every format importing natively without the need for transcoding, from ProRes, Avid DNxHD, AVC-Intra, AVCHD, H.264, XDCAM EX / HD 422 and others all on the same timeline in realtime. The dedicated web export to MPEG4/H.264 produces video files specifically for YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook and Instagram, with an option to upload directly to a YouTube account.
Lightworks’ background import, render and export avoids delay and allows you to continue editing while you continue with other tasks. Trim functions are also very fast and precise. For multiple camera shoots, a group of clips can be synced straight from a bin directly with your edit and an Auto Edit generated from the sync group
Lightworks has a real-time, purpose-built GPU pipeline architecture to deal with HD, 2K or 4K compositing and effects, such as primary and secondary colour correction, blurs, mattes and masks including over 100 inbuilt effect presets – all of which are independent of the source media. users can create a customizable panel to centralize favourite key commands and user defined Auto Effects that always appear on the VFX layout.
Lightworks 14.0 is available in either the Free version, or Pro version as a month, year or outright license. Lightworks 14.0 will run on Mac, Windows and Linux operating systems. www.lwks.com
